Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite TV Shows

Another week, another Top Ten Tuesday, a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. The topic was TV related and I decided to go for my favorite TV shows. I have many more that the ones listed, but those that made it here are the ones I tend to rewatch from time to time. I’m so sure I’m forgetting some, but I can’t figure out which ones!

1.GILMORE GIRLS

My sisters and I were so faithful to this show when it came out, we never missed an episode. This year I decided to rewatch every single season and I was a little scared because I wasn’t sure if I was going to love it. I TOTALLY DID. It was exactly what I remembered. Then came the news of the new episodes on Netflix and I can’t tell you how excited I am. I looked up to Rory for her love of books and academic work and Lorelai for how witty and funny she was, but I also like that they make terrible decisions and aren’t perfect.

2. BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

This show is extremely funny, witty and also very tragic (it got so dark!). My favorite thing about it is how well-rounded and badass all the female characters are. I loved them so much and I can relate to all of them somehow. Although the last seasons were disappointing, it still holds a place in my heart because the rest of the show was incredible.

3. STEVEN UNIVERSE

I cannot ignore cartoons here. Steven Universe is the cutest show on TV. It’s got a lovely animation, catchy songs, incredible characters, diversity, it’s perfect for children and adults alike, and I can go on and on about it. It’s adorable and also touches on very serious topics in the best ways possible.

4. ADVENTURE TIME

My favorite thing about this show is the wacky humor and the relationships.  Jake and Finn as brothers, Marcie and PB’s complicated relationship, etc. It’s a very complex show and I’m sure I always miss a lot of the references and topics it deals with, so rewatching is a must!

5. DOCTOR WHO

Here I’m referring to seasons 1 to 4. I loved the main characters as well as the side characters, the plot lines, themes, etc. Seasons 5 and 6 lost the magic, but they have some good episodes too (the van Gogh episode is one of my favorites). I haven’t watched all of Peter Capaldi episodes, so maybe it got better.

6. PARKS AND RECREATION

This show is hilarious and really cute. Leslie is very unique character in my eyes because of her optimism, hard work and good nature. She really just wants the best for everyone, how can you not love her? The rest of the characters are also amazing and really funny. I enjoy how different they all are and their interactions.

7. PRIDE AND PREJUDICE

What can I say? This is the perfect adaptation to Jane Austen’s novel. Literally, it’s almost word for word! If you are a fan of the novel, you’ll love it. The performances are delightful.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Some of these shows I love but not quite as the other ones listed. Others,  I used to like but never finished/rewatched them so I’m not sure what I feel about them now.

  • Orphan Black
  • Brooklyn Nine-Nine
  • Sailor Moon
  • My Mad Fat Diary
  • Community
  • Scrubs
  • Miranda

Are any of these your favorite shows too? Recommend some of yours here!

      1. Oooooh! 😀 That sounds great! 🙂 I’m trying to get through Game of Thrones still, hopefully I get it done in the next few weeks so I can binge watch other series I’ve been meaning to. 🙂

  1. I can’t believe I forgot to add Gilmore Girls to my list! I knew I was missing something. My sister and I used to watch it as well and when I went off to university we’d have long phone chats about each episode after.

  2. I love Doctor Who! I stopped watching it a few episodes into Capaldi though, because of college. I have a secret love of Colin Firth so I always watched to watch Pride and Prejudice. 😛 love that you included cartoons!

  3. I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer when I was younger, I haven’t seen any of the episodes in ages but I imagine if I did go back and watch it again I’d enjoy it simply because of the nostalgia! 😀
I am also a massive fan of both Doctor Who and Parks and Rec, also it’s great to see Brooklyn Nine-Nine made it as an honourable mention on your list at least. I’m watching it at the moment and go it is one of my all-time favourite comedy shows! 😀
    Great picks for this week!

    1. Thank you! 🙂 I never watched Buffy when I was younger, so I don’t get that nostalgia, but I’m glad I gave it a go now as an adult and got all the themes it dealt with. It’s brilliant ❤ And Brooklyn Nine-Nine is really one of the best comedy shows out there right now!

    1. Sorry it took me so long to reply, your comment was in my spam folder for some weird reason! I started watching Parks and Rec when it had already aired several seasons, so I also binge watched most of it in a week or so. It’s a perfect show to do so when you have nothing else to do 😀
