Sam from Thoughts on Tomes hosted the first ever Tome Topple Readathon from June 5th to June 19th. I made a post about my possible reads for it here where I explain better what it entailed if you want to read more about that. Today I’ll be checking my results in this wrap-up to see how much I actually read and what challenges I succeeded at.
BOOKS READ
- The Circle by Sara B. Elfgren and Mats Strandberg | Unfinished
- Nimona by Noelle Stevenson | Finished
- The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell | Finished
I read and reviewed The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell, then I picked Nimona for my graphic novel break and fell in love with it, and finally started The Circle, but wasn’t able to finish it. The readathon was about picking big books, so that’s why I’m still counting The Circle.
PAGES READ
- The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell | 624 pages
- The Circle by Sara B. Elfgren and Mats Strandberg | 302 pages
- Nimona by Noelle Stevenson | 272 pages
- TOTAL: 1.198 pages
ACCOMPLISHED CHALLENGES
- Read more than one big book | Failed
- Take a graphic novel break | Accomplished -> Nimona
- Read a tome that is part of a series | Accomplished -> The Circle of the Engelsfors trilogy
- Read over 500 pages in one week | Accomplished -> from the 5th to the 12th of June I read a little over 500 pages of The Bone Clocks
- Read an adult novel | Accomplished -> The Bone Clocks is an adult novel
- TOTAL: 4 out of 5
I would call this readathon a success! I got to pick up books I never would have on my own and I really enjoyed them. I also liked participating in reading sprints on Twitter and checking everyone else’s progress. This adds to my love for reading challenges (as I said on this post on my reasons why) and I look forward to participate in another one soon.
I failed so bad. I was supposed to read Illuminae and Death Note as my graphic novel but that didnt happen. Illuminae is really boring and I cant get into it and I lost my graphic novel! I cant find it anywhere. But im happy that you managed to complete as much as you did. Thats a lot!

Thank you! Oh that’s so bad! But the thing is you tried, now at least you know Illuminae is no the book for you 😛 I hope you find your graphic novel soon, that’s so strange :O

There’s the booktubeathon in July, but I have no idea how that one works or if it’s just for booktubers.

Thanks, I’ll see. Maybe we, non-booktubers can participate in some twitter chats or sprints… I just hope it will be after 10th bc I probably wont be able t participate sooner.

This is such a great readathon idea! If I wasn’t already participating in a different one, I’d totally do this! Also, I just bought Nimona and I’m soooo excited to read it 🙂

Yees, Nimona is fantastic. I will write a review for it, possibly for tomorrow. Which readathon are you participating on?

Nice – I look forward to reading your review! It’s the Remembrall Readathon; a reread of the Harry Potter books.

Ohh, that’s a cool one! I had too many books on my TBR right now so I don’t want to add those too right now, but I want to do that some day.

I wish I could have participated, but I’ve been so busy with my internship that I just couldn’t commit to the challenges. I did manage to finish the 800-something page biography of Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow in the past few weeks, though, so at least that’s something! Congrats on your readathon success 🙂

Thank you! Hey, that’s really something, congrats on finishing that up! Did you enjoyed it? I also considered reading that for my love for the musical and because I heard it was really easy to read.

I loved it! It’s definitely long, but it’s so worth it. It’s written incredibly well and Hamilton’s life is honestly like a soap opera– so many crazy things happen!

I had to put The Illiad and the Odyssey on hold for the time being, that is the book I was reading for the readathon.

Aw, too bad, but I hope you can get back to it at one point and finish it.
